I have learnt much in my thirty plus years as a fashion designer. But one thing is for sure…
The story most women tell themselves is generally the same.
Most are not happy with their body and wish they could change something or the other so they could feel confident in themselves.
In my opinion, a woman’s form is the most beautiful, most complex and the most intriguing. Yet we don’t appreciate it enough. We tend to hide parts that we feel are not attractive, and we berate ourselves for being too much of this, and not enough of that. Rather than being in awe and working with the form we are blessed with, we spend more time and resources than most of us can afford on diets and procedures that are rarely long lasting.
We’re on this constant merry-go-round obsessing about our body during every waking moment. Not only that, but the way we talk to ourselves: We would not allow anyone to say those words to our best friends or even our worst enemies!
Through simple techniques and suggestions you can look at your body and see what you can make better, starting with these:
1. Assess and appraise your body type so you can learn about the most flattering silhouettes to dress in.
2. Learn how to dress your body in a way that will enhance your best assets and camouflage areas that you feel uncomfortable about or find lacking in any way.
3. Invest in the right lingerie and know the importance of fit and simple solutions to your common bra issues.
4. Determine what colors flatter you most and which ones to part with. Color is one of the key elements that can make a woman look more interesting, more self-confident, more self-assured, and in control.
5. Know that black is the one color that is a must-have in every woman’s wardrobe, and the one piece of clothing that is a chameleon and that can be transformed into any number of looks.
Regardless what shape, size, color, or height you are, know that sexy is never out of fashion, nor is it outdated. In fact the older you get the more confident you become.
Ultimately confidence is really what makes a woman sexy.

In my book, Your Body, Your Style I share 101 tips and tricks, secrets on fashion fixes, and the importance of color, all of which help boost your self-confidence. I delve into how you can accentuate your strongest features and dress sexy so you look like a million bucks regardless of the body you have, or the resources to access trends that are so fleeting they make our heads spin!
So, aside from walking with your head held high and oozing self-confidence, what to wear this holiday season?
Sure, a little black dress or Le Smoking suit is always on par for the party scene, but who says holiday dressing has to be so cut and dry?
Current trends to flaunt include anything from Velvet suits to Silky slip dresses, to paring a Lace blouse with a Leather mini skirt for the ultimate naughty-meets-nice contrast.
While you can never go wrong with a classic little Black Dress, give the staple wardrobe item a refresh with some feather or sheer detailing, or better still dress it up with over-the-top chunky jewelry in bold colors, and shoes that will turn heads with envy wherever your heels touch.
From your Christmas parties to New Year’s Eve, a full-on sequin dress instantly becomes the life of any party, while A deep red silk dress feels equal parts sexy and festive for any party this season.
And when all else fails, go bold or go home in a sizzling red and gold sequin look.
Regardless of what you wear, never let your body image hold you back.
Remember this: confidence is the most important element of your wardrobe. Confidence is the sexiest garment a woman can ever wear.
So go out, and stand in your power.
You are beautiful – ALL of you!
